Please post about your day 1 adventure here!

I'm excited to hear how God used you today! This site is designed with the organic lifestyle in mind and with ways to attain optimal health. I don't believe anything contributes to our well-being like being others centered and giving to the needs of others.

Please share with us your story...

Karen,

WOW!! What an awesome experience you've had so far!

You have give all of us inspiration (and wonderful ideas as well:)

How thoughtful to bake cookies for your co-workers and tell them how much they're appreciated...

Isn't it comforting the way God answers prayer...I will join you in praying for your children as they look for work...

Be encouraged and keep sharing...you're a real blessing!

Hi to all!!
I started my 29 day journey by adding 12 new names to the CHIP Co-op Membership so they can order products for healthy eating.

And I connected my niece in Florida to 2 cousins who live here in Anderson and have not had contact with each other for several years. Nita was excited about the reunion with these two cousins and plans to join them on fb.

I gave my husband the delicious breakfast scramble (that I will soon share with all of you) for a great meal to start his day of work at the hospital. He appreciated that I got up at 5:30 to give him a good send-off.

I offered 2 days next week to my friend Susan, to help with the CHIP Heart Health Screen Evaluations. And I said a prayer for her ministry to make Madison County and beyond healthier!

I called an elderly couple from our church and offered to pick them up on Sunday to drive them to church. They have missed two or three weeks due to the weather and don't feel they can drive on those country roads. They were appreciative of the offer.

And I feel good!

I hope I am posting as anonymous. Day 1 is something that has been on my heart for a while. I am taking a few spiritual books and some bound journals to the psych ward of the hospital. I was there as a patient one time and I have a real calling to give back to them. I am taking books I already have- When God Winks at New Beginnings and Prayers for Emotional Healing for Women. I also want the journals because the writing process helped me so much in my healing and relationship with God. I want the people there to know that they are not defined by the place they are, but as God's child. Anyway, I am leaving the house now to take them. God Bless You all!

My first gift was fun! I was picking up some things at the grocery store, one of which was the fresh baked bread in the deli. They recently installed a bread-slicing machine for the customers to use, and I was using it to slice my loaf. An older couple came up behind me and remarked that they loved the kind of bread I was getting, but said they had no idea how to use the machine SO -- I sliced their bread and chatted with them.

They asked how I learned to operate the machine, so I grinned and told them that I figured it out on my own because I graduated from Virginia Tech ;) Then the wife told me that her Dad went to school there in 1920-something and played basketball, then they told me stories about him and also about their grandchildren.

Elderly people love talking about their families, so it was fun to see their faces light up as they talked about happy memories.

What did it "cost" me? Less than 5 minutes of my time, but I hope it was a little moment of joy in their day!

I spent quite a bit of time praying about what my gift would be today. Because I have been "blind- sided" by pneumonia (I can't remember the last time I was sick) this week, I had to give something that would not take a lot of energy or having to go out.
I called my elderly parents this evening to let them know that I love them. They are always happy to hear from us.
I also prepared some dinner for my husband in Jesus name. :-) He loved it and was most appreciative.
Now, praying about tomorrow!

I am deeply moved by this little group!

When I found Cami's story on the back cover (which I rarely ever look at) of my Natural Health Magazine, I had no idea the impact this challenge would have on us! God is using this time to change us and give us a fresh infilling of His Spirit.

I was fortunate enough to witness the blessing for a couple of us today...the phone calls, the warm hugs, the tears of joy shed.

This is no small thing! One of our members said to me with tears flowing down her cheeks, "Marisa, this is only day one...what's it going to be like after 29 days???"

Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories today and for being the Hands and Feet of Jesus! YOU are going to bring about revivals in our communities. This is what sharing Agape love is all about...THIS is what brings about eternal change in the lives around us!

Well, I woke up this morning and prayed for God's leading today. In the midst of sharing the little things (bringing organic cookies to my folks, giving a Women of Faith bag to a friend, giving my husband a haircut...) I received a package in the mail...

I open this package to find a cover letter that read:

"Congratulations! It gives me great pleasure to inform you that your proposal was selected for funding under the 2010 Teacher Creativity Fellowship Program. Your award is $8,000.00."

You see, back in the Fall I wrote this grant proposal in hopes of going to Ecuador this summer to teach scholarship children English and to learn organic gardening from the locals...I would then return home after 8 weeks and turn our school courtyard into an organic garden for our students to sustain!

This was such perfect timing for God to share with me the perfect "giving" opportunity!

Thank-you to all of you for sharing your joy with me and for allowing me to share mine with you.

As we continue along this journey, please know I am praying for and with you...miracles are already happening!!

Until tomorrow!

Sorry this is a second post. I put it om my facebook message reply and did not realize that it would not show up here.

Okay, it is time to get caught up. Sorry. Saturday was spent with my sister and mom and dad. My sister was in town speaking at a conference. So after some Panera Bread that she loves, I dropped her off at Madison Park and then went back and got my mom. We returned in time to sit in the back and pray for her as she spoke. God spoke mightly through her. What an experience. My mom and dad left in the afternoon. After Belinda finshed her conference, we had supper with Lys, Nick, and Lo. Great table fellowship. A gift to everyone. Since I bought supper, Belinda took me to the movie. I am not sure how this goes with the gift giving thing (maybe gift exchange) but we sure had fun. After returning home around midnight, I helped my husband get the pictures in order for his Sunday presentation. And that is day 1.

Wow, Rhonda...did you have time to catch your breath? What a special person you are! I'm so thankful to say you're my sister-in-law :)

I'm so glad you had a special day with your family...see, in getting out of our own way, God is able to show us just how very blessed we are and boy oh boy did He ever show you yesterday!

Don't forget to post on day 2 that you took your nephew to church...you have no idea how monumental that is! YOU are contributing to his spiritual growth...thank-you so much!

Rhonda, thank you for preparing the pictures for the service Sunday and allowing your computer to be used to put them on the screen.. Everyone was impressed with Scott's presentation of India. his piano playing and his message. We had several people gone so a small group, but it was a loving, worshipful groups. Love you both. What a team!
